Scalar-tensor Gravity Theory for Dynamical Light Velocity
نویسنده
چکیده
A gravity theory is developed with the metric ĝμν = gμν+B∂μφ∂νφ. In the present universe the additional contribution from the scalar field in the metric ĝμν can generate an acceleration in the expansion of the universe, without negative pressure and with a zero cosmological constant. In this theory, gravitational waves will propagate at a different speed from non-gravitational waves. It is suggested that gravitational wave experiments could test this observational signature.

متن کامل0 Vector Field Mediated Models of Dynamical Light Velocity
A vector-tensor theory of gravity that was introduced in an earlier publication is analyzed in detail and its consequences for early universe cosmology are examined. The multiple light cone structure of the theory generates different speeds of gravitational and matter wave fronts, and the contraction of these light cones produces acausal, superluminary inflation that can resolve the initial val...
متن کاملEffective Gravitational “Constant” in Scalar-(Curvature)Tensor and Scalar-Torsion Gravities
In theories where a scalar field couples nonminimally to gravity, the effective gravitational “constant” becomes dependent on the value of the scalar field. This note first gives a brief review on how the cosmological evolution provides a dynamical stabilization for the gravitational “constant” as the system relaxes towards general relativity in matter dominated and potential dominated regimes ...
متن کاملScalar-Tensor Gravity and Quintessence
Scalar fields with inverse power-law effective potentials may provide a negative pressure component to the energy density of the universe today, as required by cosmological observations. In order to be cosmologically relevant today, the scalar field should have a mass mφ = O(10 −33eV), thus potentially inducing sizable violations of the equivalence principle and space-time variations of the cou...
متن کاملSome Impacts of Lorentz Violation on Cosmology
The impact of Lorentz violation on the dynamics of a scalar field is investigated. In particular, we study the dynamics of a scalar field in the scalar-vector-tensor theory where the vector field is constrained to be unity and time like. By taking a generic form of the scalar field action, a generalized dynamical equation for the scalar-vector-tensor theory of gravity is obtained to describe th...
